Default Need help with my dreamlinkHD

I just got a dreamlink and I'm trying to understand this receiver. I have a ilink 9000 plus and that receiver I've had for about 6 or 7 years and have been happy with it. but now I understand that the dn format is changing from mpg2 to mpg4 and that's the reason that I have to get a receiver that's mpg4 and I've heard some good reviews about the dreamlink. and now I'm just trying to understand the set up. now relentless posted a factory file the 106 which he states to first download into the receiver then do a factory reset right? then put the 121 file into the receiver and do another factory reset right. well the only thing that I'm having problems with is that when I put the files into my usb stick and when I put the usb stick into the receiver it only shows the 121 file I noticed that the 106 file shows on my computer as a PDF file is that why it wont show on the receiver. also I have no signal on the dreamlink but when I connect my ilink 9000 plus the signal is good and the channels come in. but when I try the dreamlink receiver I get no signal can someone help me with this matter. Thank you in advance

    Here is a link>>>http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php...1-DL_HDpvr_121

Don't worry about factory file as the box comes with factory installed. Just install 102. Reset. Then go into antenna settings and setup. Signal and quality will be indicated in blue and satellites name will be in blue when correct settings are assigned.

Well I have the dreamlink HD and I did ended up installing the 121 file but the only thing is that after I scanned the sats which are 110 and 119 and also the 129 sat. the 129 wont scan properly I only get 15 channels and the signal is real weak that the channels won't come in I tried every way to scan the channels on that sat but the signal is real weak. and on all of the sats the signal is real weak and some channels come in real weak where the picture is real scramble, and some channels don't even come in can you suggest another good receiver I went with the dreamlink because I read a lot of good reviews. right now I have the ilink9000plus and I've had this receivers for about 7 or 8 years and when I connected the ilink to see if I'm getting a signal the signal is real strong on the ilink9000p and the channels come in good no scrambling. and when I connect the dreamlink the signal is real weak. and now the only reason I want to upgrade not only to HD but also I heard that mpg is changing from mpg2 to mpg4 by next month. so can you give me some advice on another good receiver. I would like to fix the dreamlink if I can so what do you think I should do about the dreamlink. what do you think about the jinxbox V6 any advise will be really appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Sound like a lack of power to the LNB.

Your Dish 1000.2 LNB is a DC power hog, your probably not supping enough DC current to run it right.

It needs about 750 mA of DC current at 18 to 20 volts DC to properly switch and send all 3 satellites down to the receiver.

If your receiver is marked 500 mA max where the LNB connects to it then it's power starved.

To fix this you need the DC power supply and inserter for a DPP44 switch, (not the switch just it's power supply) you run it up to the #1 port on the LNB on it's own separate coax (no receiver attached to it) use only Dish DP type power inserters, use of other brands may affect the LNB.

And as asked by Glatt, what is the "Q" on the different satellites??

Sorry about that it's a typo it's frequency the q is upper case which should have been lower case. the only thing that I don't understand is that I have 3 ilink9000p which I have been using for the past 7 years and they work fine the only reason why I am upgrading not only to HD but also because I heard that the whole system is changing from mpeg2 to mpeg4 and the dreamlink has some good reviews. anyway I tested my sats signal with the ilink9000p and as always I got good strong signal and the channels are coming in real nice. so I don't understand why the dreamlink needs a power supply. can you explain what the difference is between the ilink9000p and the dreamlink HD. I really appreciate your time and knowledge, and also taking the time to help me to resolve this issue. I just want to get this 3 receivers up and running. again Thank you

So terryl do I need just 1 DPP44 power supply not the switch. and you say connect it to #1port on the LNB on it's own separate coaxel. and this will generate enough power for all 3 dreamlinks?
