I just don't buy your argument. Once a system is hacked, the provider needs to upgrade to a new security system or they will never be fully secure again.

well dish is getting that issue now fix as we speak.

Isn't it sort of sour grapes thinking for any post in a satellite "fix" site to say that a fix should be kept underground?
For this particular type of hack/exploit the more people working on it the better.

I agree. Why would a hack be kept underground? The more people working on it, the more holes will be found and the less likely the provider will be able to secure it again. Also, the more applications we will get: PC emu, receiver hacks, even oem receiver hacks.

I don't know. It all reminds me of the golden era of DTV testing when literally hundreds of coders were working on that system and thousands of people were watching free tv thanks to the coders. I don't think a single person or even a small group can fully reverse any sat security system because it is just too much work.

Ladies and Gentlemen, In my humble opinion this testing is more so for people who already have BUDS set up. I have had mine since 1991 and have maintained it nicely so when more info is put out I for one will test it. But let me tell you if I did not already have a BUD installed on my property no way too much work or money involved.

There are Ku band Pvu encrypted channels.

Very few folks ever do seem to do any real work on getting something going regardless of the encryption type. Colibri worked all alone for years, as did the guy that got into Nagra cards when Dtv was all the rage. But isn't that type of play the fun part of the hobby?

DirecTV probably busted more than 100 coders alone!

When the infamous 'Black Sunday' ecm hit back in the day, DirecTV estimated that over 1 million pirate cards were disabled. My guess is that 1% of testers are coders and the other 99% are free tvers. You do the math.

Once dish iks ends, however, a lot of us won't have any other options. IPTV in my opinion is not an option for most since it requires a monthly subscription and you need unlimited internet or your internet bill will skyrocket.

How much does a Dish or DirecTV sub cost? At least $1000 per year, even for a slim package. Setting up a cband dish won't even come close to that in terms of cost, even if you purchase a brand new system.

republishing the same public code doesn't make a person a coder
I was given a card by a site sponsor in 2002 that lasted until may of 2005 without ever leaving the receiver
    that's a coder
by the way I got high 90's in math all thru school...lol

I agree, but dozens and dozens of coders were writing their own blocker and emulation code. Many were charging for their code while others were releasing as freeware. During the heyday of DTV piracy, almost every Radio Shack and Walmart had no receiver stock because black market dealers were buying up their inventory at the beginning of the month. When some of these dealers got popped, they literally had over 10,000 receivers stocked in their warehouses.
