the most important parts of that article to me are: Biggest fundamental change in content security technology since the launch of digital TV in the 1990s
Innovative new security client secures CAS and video descrambling in a single device, thereby preventing new forms of piracy and paving the way for ultra-secure 4K services
EchoStar Technologies will be first to integrate anyCAST COMMAND
DISH Network L.L.C will be the first customer to deploy NAGRA anyCAST COMMAND, NAGRA’s revolutionary new security technology that defeats popular forms of piracy like control word sharing and paves the way for ultra-secure 4K services.
NAGRA will deliver anyCAST COMMAND to EchoStar and DISH in the first quarter of 2015
anyone have any feedback on this? iks annual subs should not be offered in my opinion knowing that this is going to happen. i am relatively new and i am sure many people are, if they do not know any better they will continue to purchase iks subs from resellers and when this is deployed (in about a month if it has not already begun) their service is done and they wasted that money. so anyone that is in the know, and has read this article and is still selling long term (annual) iks subs, is a pos in my humble opinion.

well we all know what they say about opinions and everybody having one. It is the opinion of DN that anybody stealing their signal via IKS is a POS. Actually they will probably sell more year codes the closer it gets to the deadline as they will be lowering year long codes out rather than be stuck with a bunch of useless data. It wouldn't surprise me to see year codes cheaper then monthly codes and as long as the free tver is looking for a bargain they will buy.
I don't know what these dealers are charging for codes and really could care less but if they are charging a C-note a year and you got a month out of it then you still have got a deal compared to a legit sub.

excellent point.
after the end of IKS, what is left for the average user that is comparable? iptv boxes? regular legit paid subscriptions to DISH, Direct TV, Comcast etc?
is everyone sol?
thanks for sharing.

With the rumor that PowerVu encoding on the "C" band feed satellites has been cracked (if it is true) I see a lot of "C" band dishes going up, and a ton of "V" or "G" linear motor controller boxes being bought.
We will see if this "anyCAST" comes around when Dish starts sending out new cards for their subscriber boxes.

i have seen the numerous C band posts. i will have to research more about it. i am unfamiliar with it. (i am unfamiliar with most of it but i am learning)
Thank you for commenting.

ive read that some people got a notice from dish about 301 receivers not working anymore after march 2015 and they are offering a free upgrade to newer receiver.
Funny thing is up here i know of people with those types of receivers for Bv 3100 and they have not received that notice. So i guess we'll see how much longer this will last.
well just because DN makes a switch does not mean BEV will but they probably will as well. It would not take BEV near as long or be as expensive as a DN switch because the customer base is so much smaller. DN gave approximately a 90 day notice. BEV might give a 60 day heads up. Who knows what games they play but usually what DN does BEV follows suit or vice versa

jeez ya mean what they are saying is they are thinking of doing the netflix type thing with their signal. True that a lot of people don't have the bandwidth to take advantage of something like that but probably just as many living in a spot where they have that speed available and a dish will not work. Probably be a lot cheaper for them than maintaining all those sats and the uplinks
