Default 9800 hd plus losing all signal.

A friend has a 9800hd plus that keeps losing signal, the dish is aimed spot on ,all the cables are good, after a hard reboot it has great signal but when the channel is changed or after two minutes the signal drops to zero and will only come back after a hard reboot. Does it need a power inserter? Any ideas?

You didn't give dish setup or what lnb were being used, but if the setup will take a power inserter, then give it a try. good luck

Then it will need a DC power inserter, and it has to be a power inserter from a DPP44 switch.

The power inserter must be run on it's own coax to the #1 port on the D1000 LNB, the other outputs on the LNB (2 of them) will run the FTA receiver just fine after that.

That is if your HD module is not dammaged from the excessive current draw.

He swopped a old SV360 in place and every thing is working fine. after looking at the ls500 module it looks like it might have been getting hot. If he put a new ls500 module in it would that get it running again or would a power inserter be best or hell use both ?
