    Default dual lnb

Hello. I am needing to replace my lnb. I have a dish satellilte and viewsat ultra receiver. I wanted to make sure what I am thinking of purchasing will be compatible with what I have:

Dish Network DP Pro Twin LNB Satellite Antenna LNBF 110 119 FTA Bell Dual 500

also I was thinking of getting a new switch:

Pansat Wideband 4x1 DiSEqC 1.0 Model 4x1W Premium Satellite Switch FTA Dish LNB

Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just get a DP Twin LNB and you wont need the switch, as the DP Twin LNB has an internal one.

But it will only fit a Dish Network Dish 500 or Dish 1000, or Bell Dish 500 with the double LNB adapter.

I bought on ebay a Legacy TWIN LNB LNBF Dish Network Bell ExpressVU BEV use a Dish 500. It says it has an internal switch. Does that mean I just use a satellite multiswitch to connect the cables to the 119 and 110 ports together? We connected the new lnb with the cables with the diseq switch and nothing. Signal is good. Quality 0. The cable is good as we tested out for the international lnb. The switch is good with the international lnb. My husband insists something is wrong with the lnb, but I just want to make sure the other parts are all technically compatible with each other. Help.....

Did you change lnb type in Antenna Setup menu?

OK this is what could be wrong.

One, you didn't get a "Legacy twin LNB" as they havent made them for years and years, what you may have is a DP twin LNB, one way to tell is by how many connectors are on the LNB, 2 3 or 4?

2 connectors = a DP twin old style, 3 connectors = a new style DP twin (there will be two connectors right next to each other, and one by it's self) and last there are 4 connectors, then you do have an old style legacy twin LNB.

Can you take some photos of it?

Here are some pics. The first two pics are of the original lnb. The second two pics show the new lnb I just bought. The last pic shows my settings. I really appreciate your looking into this for me. Thanks!

OK, the new LNB is a Dish Pro twin LNB with 2 outputs. (so was the old one)

The settings you have for that LNB are correct except for the TP setting for 110W, use TP 12224 to see anything on 110W, for 119W use TP 12457 to find 119W.

And you do not need an external switch as that LNB has an internal one.

I still cannot pick up anything at the right frequencies. You say I do not need an external switch, but I still need some kind of connector to connect the cables from the 100 and 119 to a main cable to the receiver no? The dish looks like it is positioned right. We have the original viewsat switch that connects the cables from the lnb to a cable to the receiver right now.

If you only have the one receiver then you only need one coax, connected directly from the #1 port on the LNB and run directly to the receiver, with nothing in between.(except maybe a ground block)

If there is a switch in line line it may be the problem. You do not need a switch with this type of LNB.

You can by pass the switch with an "F" barrel connector, but it has to be rated for a satellite system.

The coax also must be rated for a DP type LNB, you can look at the coax, it must be rated to 2.5 GHz or say "Swept to 3 GHz" on it, or you will be missing some transponders.

Also on the second photo, you have the LNB type set wrong, it should be OCS-DP or it will not work right.

I have this lnb for 110 & 119. I have another lnb with another satellite for international channels. Right now I have cables connecting from both lnbs to the switch. So I have three cables going to the switch ( one from 110 one from119) (third on from the international lnb) then one cable from the switch to receiver . I don't know how I am suppose to connect everything without a switch to the line that goes down to the house.

I actually bought another lnb before this one. I was missing all the v transponders with the lnb connected to a switch. I was trying to change the cables to get all the transponders. In the process the lnb, it was dropped and no longer worked. With this one we got nothing even from the beginning. If you think the lnb is compatible with the viewsat ultra then maybe it is the lnb that is bad.

OK you didn't tell us about the 3rd LNB, now that changes things, the new style DP LNB's do not like some switches, they like DP switches, a DP34 or a DP44 switch will work this out, or a 4x1 Diseqc switch that is compatible with Dish equipment MUST be used.

If you use a DP compatible switch then the following setup must be used.

The #1 port on the DP LNB must go to the #1 port on the switch, the #2 port on the DP LNB must go to the #2 port on the switch, and the other LNB can go to the #3 port on the switch.

But as I said the switch used MUST be DP equipment rated, it will say this on the box or instruction sheet.

I believe so. right now I am thinking maybe the switch got shorted while we were messing with hooking and unhooking things. I turned off the receiver while switching things, but I didn't unplug the cable from the receiver. If it is the switch, If I were to get on ebay 3-WAY COAX SPLITTER HOLLAND HFS-3D 5-2150Mhz DISH NETWORK , it should work yes?

or the 4x1 CHIETA DISEqC 2.0 SWITCH COMPATIBLE WITH: Dish Network, FTA, BELL, DIRECTV

The switch we have is the original switch when we got the original dish and dish pro lnb. We tested the other ports on the switch with the fta lnb, and we get reception. Does that mean the switch is fine then, and it should be working with the new dish network lnb i have?
