Default How to run Navi-x on XBMC with External Players.

For those of you who still insist on running navi-x through xbmc I have something for you. This little trick will allow you to play your Standard and High Definition content through an external player, while running the navi-x program. Normally the external player is limited to the add-ons from the xmbchub repositories. With all the “dependencies not met” errors popping up, something had to be done.

This has been tested using the current img file available here:

There is no need to replace or edit the playercorefactory.xml. This will work as is…

First thing you need to do is go into your settings, look for the app feature, and clear your xbmc cache. Once the caches is clear, open xbmc and play any downloaded video file for a few minutes. At least long enough initiate the external player. Now with the cache cleared the only thing in there is the external player log.

Now open Navi-x and open the left hand menu. Here you will see view options. What you’re going to need to do is select list view. The reason for this is because some of these options in the right hand menu are not accessible in thumbnail view.

Pick the show you want to watch and enter the right hand menu by pressing the C button on your keyboard, or just press the right directional arrow to access the right hand options menu. In this menu your going to need to select default player. When the default player menu opens, you’re going to have to select MPlayer. Then exit.

Then return to the Return to the default player menu and select. [Auto player]

Then return to the movie and play. At this point you will see loading on the bottom left but you will not see the little swirly on the bottom right. This is good… Then after a few more seconds pass your external player will open and you will be running xbmc Navi-x via external player.

This should automatically use the external player every time… If it doesn’t, repeat the steps in default player again to make it play. Sometimes you will get an external player active menu. If this happens press alt tab and select the mxplayer Icon for playback.
