Not in Texas, we tried a 20 foot commercial "kU" band dish here in central California, and didn't get a flicker.
Have you thought about a 39" dish, high and low band "kU" LNB and a motor? Some good stuff on some of the linear birds, if you got the room a "C"/"kU" band 9 foot dish will get a ton of channels to play with, you would also need a "V" box to interface your FTA receiver to the BUD's* linear motor.
*BUD= Big Ugly Dish
