The SV8000 is one of the best receivers ever made,I still have mine and use it at times. It has one of the best PVR`s I`ve seen A very dependable receiver, they retailed for about $425,it should be a good reveiver for you.

I have 3 of the SV 8000 HDs they are great receivers but you need to keep them as COOL as possible or the power
supply will burn out on you
$250.00 for one is not great price but is acceptable

The 8k is a great box and mine works well..... but...
It's starting to show it's age and limitations.
If your looking to view the 82 sat (Bev) you might see some glitching at times as the box tries to deal with the data flow.
The external dongle can also be a bit of trouble at times.
The older 8k version "A" or "1" had noisy and loud fans. Many replace the fans with newer computer fans that run quieter and move more air.
As was mentioned already, the power supply can also be an issue with the 8k.
Do your research well and happy hunting.

I will agree with everybody here great box but... it is an older receiver although it is great, for that price you can get any newer hd model out right now. they may not be as good but I think for that price I'd buy a newer receiver.

i have a cheap little laptop fan on top of mine with two little blades, keeps it pretty cool a laptop cooler on the bottom would probably work then just plug it in with the usp you won't be able to have a usb for recording in but I just unplug the fan if I want to record something. :)

You do not need to plug it in to the usb port, just get a power adapter like used for a cell phone charger and cut the usb end off <br />
on the laptop cooler wire and splice it on to the adapter wire and...

That is because they are SD receivers and they do not get HOT like all the HD receivers do

Anything you can do to help the box run cooler is a good thing.
The built in fan is the weak link and replacing it or adding more smaller fans is an option too.
There are plenty of posts here about adding and changing fans.

I've had the sv8khd since it came out and no probs...been on and used constantly for years. I would buy another one IN A HEARTBEAT. you'll definately be satisfied with it. but if i were to buy for another room, i would consider a wifi receiver such as the limesat air.

thanks all .I just replace switch from sw21 to Diseqc 4x1.Now I am getting all channels on 118,119 and 110 but I just hook up 129 LNB. I have 33inch dish. I have already 110 and 119 LNB installed on dish. .I am getting S=33 and Q=32. I tried a lot.but I couldnt get better than this. That why I am not getting channels at 129.Any help to improve S and Q. my Freq =11250 and TP =12457.
as I read thread to use TP=12516, I used it but when I exit from setup than TP=12457 again come.
Thanks
